The man behind the console and business

So starting 2023 with a new blog doing something I don't usually do much of - talking about me!

I'm not one that likes to talk about me and my achievements and beliefs and all things me. But I have seen a few people (especially photographers) talk about themselves in a little more detail so I thought why not let people know a little bit more about who Gavin Poole from Groovy Entertainment is.

Let me start with this picture of me...

No this is not me after a night out on the town, but this is me letting those pesky Elves on the Shelves entertain my children. I am a family man and I love my wife and kids. I do enjoy spending time as a family doing things - walks along the beach, getting away for a short break on school holidays, playing board games, getting beaten constantly at Switch by my wife (and yes she loves every minute of it and hates my complaining about it).

There are many parts of my life but music is the one constant every day. For those of you that don't know, I am currently the music specialist at Willetton Primary School (full time) so I teach music. I play lead trumpet in the Fremantle Jazz Orchestra, so I play music. I have been a conductor of a few bands over my time (and have played in Brass Bands, Concert Bands and Jazz / Big Bands) since I started learning Trumpet back when I was 10 years old (that was 37 years ago). Again - see the common theme of music in my life.

My introduction into the life of a DJ was while I was working at McDonalds Fremantle (when that existed). I saw an advert in the newspaper looking for DJs and I thought I would give it a go. Little was I to know that over 25 years later and over 2700 shows later, that I would still love and enjoy creating music vibes at every function I do. I worked for a very well know DJ company called Da Doo Ron Ron DJs and was one of their leading wedding DJs and was always allocated shows that required that extra attention to detail. I received so many references over my time there with clients letting the guys know how good a job I had done. I branched out while continuing to work for DDRR and create my own company - Groovy Entertainment back in 2006.

I am knowledgeable in just about every style of music ranging from country and jazz, through to classical music and heavy metal. I really enjoy listening to country music most of all, cause it is music that tells a story and is still predominantly played by live musicians.

So that is a little bit about the man behind the console... I would love to share my professionalism, fun and knowledge of music with you in the near future for your special day or event.
